What is EastWest Pay?
EastWest Pay is the latest mobile payment application “app” of EastWest Bank that allows EastWest credit cardholders to transact contactless at merchant point-of-sale “POS” terminals using their NFC-capable Android mobile phone instead of their plastic credit cards.

Will this work with all East West credit cards or debit cards? 
At this time, the app will only work with East West credit cards. 

Will this work with all phones? 
No. The app will only work with NFC-capable android phones that are able to download the app from the Google Play store. The app will not be available for download from any other Android app repository.

Why won’t it work with Apple devices? 
Unfortunately, Apple restricts access to its NFC antenna. Only Apple Pay works with Apple devices.

How will I know if my android phone is NFC-capable? 
Go to settings on your phone. In the search box at the top, type in "NFC." If your phone is NFC capable, your phone will display a result. If it is not NFC capable, no results will be displayed. Additionally, if your phone is not NFC capable, you will not be able to search for the EW Pay app in the Google Play store.

How many EastWest credit cards can I enroll? 
You can enroll all your eligible credit cards. There is no limit. You can choose which card you will use to perform a transaction.

Do I need mobile internet connection? 
You will need to be connected to the internet to enroll and transact. 

How do I use “Tap to Pay” feature?
Open the app and select the credit card to be used, tap on “tap to pay” button and then hover your mobile phone over merchant’s point of sale “POS” terminal. Once POS terminal accepts, you are done. 

Will the “Tap to Pay” feature work on all merchant POS terminal?
Please check if merchant’s POS terminal has symbol. If the symbol is not available, this facility will not work. 

What else can I do on the EastWest Pay app? 
You can perform the following: 
- on demand display of the information you require to perform e-commerce transactions
- view your balances and historical transactions
- track your card spending 
- temporary lock/unlock your card

What do I do if I encounter problems downloading the app or enrolling or transacting? 
You can ask us via the Ask a Question facility of our ESTA chatbot at www.ewlend.com/esta. There is a subject category there exclusively for EW Pay app issues. Click on “Start”, then “Ask a Question”. We will respond within 24 hours. 

Will merchants readily accept my phone-based transactions? 
Our information campaign to educate merchants is currently ongoing. When asked how you will pay by the cashier, please respond with “tap to pay credit card.” When they offer you the POS terminal, tap your phone. On the off chance that you encounter any apprehension from the cashier, calmly advise them that this is a valid and authorized method of payment. You may report merchants who do not accept EW Pay via ESTA.

Do I still need to present my EastWest credit card when transacting? 
Your credit card credentials are already registered in the EastWest Pay app. You do not need to present your card plastic anymore when transacting.

Are my credit card credentials safe?
EastWest Pay app can be only accessed using your nominated personal identification number “PIN” or biometric access such as fingerprint or facial recognition (subject to availability on your phone).
