EastWest Earns Citations for Excellence in Corporate Financing
Manila, Philippines - EastWest has secured major distinctions at the 19th Annual Alpha Southeast Asia Best Deal & Solution Awards & ESG Awards 2025, highlighting the bank’s expanding role in the country’s capital markets and its capability to deliver high-impact financing solutions for industry-shaping corporations.
As Domestic Participating Underwriter, EastWest played a key role in Maynilad Water Services, Inc.’s landmark PHP 34.3 billion Initial Public Offering (IPO), the second largest IPO in Philippine history, which earned the titles Best IPO for Retail Investors in Asia 2025 and Best Equity/IPO Deal of the Year in the Philippines 2025.
EastWest strengthened domestic participation in the IPO, particularly among retail investors. Leveraging its extensive branch network and relationships with emerging affluent clients, EastWest focused on investor education and accessibility, helping clients understand the long-term risk-return profile of equity investing. By complementing institutional demand with grassroots participation, EastWest supported a more inclusive, diversified investor base and promoted financial literacy in the equity markets.
As Joint Lead Underwriter and Joint Bookrunner for the PHP 17 billion tranche, EastWest played a key role in SM Prime Holdings, Inc.’s fixed-rate bond offering, which was awarded Best Local Currency Bond in the Philippines 2025. This issuance formed part of SM Prime’s PHP 42 billion multi-tranche issuance for 2025 that helped the company secure long-term funding for its nationwide developments.
“These citations reflect EastWest’s deepening capital markets expertise,” said EastWest Chief Executive Office Jerry G. Ngo. “The Maynilad IPO and SM Prime bond offering each illustrate our commitment to supporting the country’s most important institutions with thoughtful, well-executed financing solutions. We are honored to have contributed to these nation-building initiatives, which reinforce our mission to enable growth, widen access to capital, and help build a more resilient Philippine economy.”
The awards were given by Alpha Southeast Asia, the only regional capital markets publication dedicated to Southeast Asia’s financial sector. For 19 years, it has recognized excellence in financial leadership, innovation, and execution through one of the region’s most respected awards programs, honoring outstanding deals that shape and strengthen Southeast Asia’s capital markets.
