Annex A: Terms and Conditions

The EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Rewards Program

 

I. Definition of Terms:

1. "Bank" refers to East West Banking Corporation.

2. "Card" refers to the EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa credit card issued by the Bank pursuant to its license by Visa Worldwide Pte. Limited.

3. "Cardholders" refer to the persons to whom the Card was issued.

4. "Cash Advance" means a cash withdrawal made using a credit card at a BancNet or Visa automated teller machine (ATM).

5. "EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Rewards Program " or "Program" refers to the loyalty program extended to the Cardholders.

6. "Eligible Transaction" means any retail, straight charge or merchant installment purchase/transaction successfully charged to the Card.

7. "Good Standing" means accounts that are active, not cancelled, not delinquent, not under investigation due to suspected fraudulent activities, not reported lost or stolen and those who have not, otherwise, violated any of the Terms and Conditions Governing the Issuance and Use of EastWest Credit Cards.

8. “Billing Cycle Month” means the period between two consecutive billing dates on a credit card account. It typically lasts around 30 days, with the exact duration as defined by the Bank.

9. "Installment Transaction" means a single transaction, the payment for which is amortized in equal installments over a fixed period. Installment Transactions include, but are not limited to, Merchant Installment, Insta-Cash, Balance Transfer, Convert-to-Installment and Balance Conversion.

10. "Merchant Category" means the classification of each merchant establishment as determined by the Acquiring Bank based on the nature of the merchant’s business, as defined by Visa.

11. "Promoted Store" means a Merchant Store that is promoted by the Bank. Selection of Promoted Category/ies is subject to the sole discretion of the Bank.

12. "Terms" refer to these Program Terms & Conditions.

13. “Puregold Perks Club” refers to the Puregold loyalty card program that rewards shoppers with points every time they shop at any Puregold store. The earned points may be used to buy any item in the store.

14. “Puregold P-Wallet” refers to the e-wallet

15. “Tindahan ni Aling Puring” refers to the customized program made especially for Puregold’s primary customers which include sari-sari store owners, karinderyas, canteens, catering, bulk buyers, wholesalers and other resellers.

II. Eligibility and Participation

1. The Program is open to all principal Cardholders in good standing, current and active at the time of redemption, unless otherwise determined by the Bank.

2. The Card is intended solely for personal, family, or household use. It is not designed for business or commercial purposes. Any use of the Card for business or commercial transactions is strictly prohibited and may result in the suspension or termination of the Card and forfeiture of any Rewards Points earned.

3. To earn rewards points, a Cardholder must use the Card to purchase items, goods and services. The earn rates that will apply are as follows:

  • Earn 1 Rewards Point for every Php 30 spend at Puregold stores; and
  • Earn 1 Rewards Point for every Php 100 spend on other categories.

4. If a Card is terminated at any time and/or for any reason, whether by the Cardholder or the Bank, all Rewards Points earned shall automatically be forfeited in favor of the Bank upon the voluntary or involuntary cancellation of the Card.

5. Transfer of Rewards Points to another EastWest credit card variant shall not be allowed.

6. The Card will be exclusively offered to Puregold Perks Club members and excludes “Tindahan ni Aling Puring” members.

7. Any fraud and abuse in the use of the Card and/or the Reward Points may, in the sole discretion of the Bank, result in forfeiture of the Reward Points, suspension, or termination of the Card of the Cardholder. For the avoidance of doubt, a Cardholder who makes an overpayment or advances a payment exceeding their credit limit in their Card account may constitute abuse in the use of the Card.

8. The Cardholder agrees to comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations in the use of the Card. The Bank reserves the right to take appropriate action, including but not limited to, the immediate termination of the Cardholder's account and the forfeiture of all accumulated rewards points, if the Cardholder is found to be engaging in any illegal activities or violating any applicable laws and regulations. The Bank shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from such termination and forfeiture.

 

III. The EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Rewards Redemption

1. The EastWest Puregold Always Panalo Visa Rewards Program is the rewards program created by the Bank exclusively for its Principal Cardholders.

2. The Program allows Cardholders to accumulate Rewards Points which may be used on any of the following:

3. The maximum rewards earned and redeemed will be capped at 3,000 per billing cycle month.

4. Every Php 30 spend in Puregold Price Club Inc. Stores, Puregold Junior, and Minimart (which are part of the Merchant Category Code 5411 and 5499) will earn 1 Rewards point.

5.  In addition, Cardholders will earn 1 Rewards Point for every Php 100 spend on eligible transactions made outside of the Puregold Price Club, Inc., Puregold Junior, & Minimart, which include, but are not limited to other grocery merchants (not part of the Puregold Price Club, Inc., Puregold Junior, & Minimart), drug store, restaurants, local and international ecommerce, international, and utilities spends.

6. Cash Advance, Insta-Cash, Balance Transfer, Convert-to-Installment and Balance Conversion transactions are not eligible to earn Rewards Points.

7. Returned purchases, disputed, unauthorized or fraudulent transactions, interest charges, card account fees and charged-back transactions are not eligible for Rewards Points. The Bank reserves the right to reverse any Rewards Points earned on these transactions.

8. Transactions made by the Supplementary Cardholder/s shall form part of the Principal Cardholder’s transactions and shall qualify for Rewards Points under this Program.

9. Rewards points redeemed are exclusively credited to the Cardholder’s Puregold P-Wallet.

10. The Puregold P-Wallet should be in the name of the principal cardholder to effect the successful crediting of the Rewards Points to the Puregold P-Wallet.

11. The Rewards Points conversion is equivalent to Php 1 to 1 Rewards Point.

12. Cardholders may redeem via ESTA chatbot.

13. Only the Rewards Points posted in the Cardholder’s latest SOA may be redeemed by the Cardholder.

14. The Bank makes no representation for Puregold Price Club Inc. and all feedback regarding the quality of the goods and services provided should be directed to Puregold Price Club Inc. Terms and conditions indicated in the Terms and Conditions Governing the Issuance and Use of EastWest Credit Cards shall apply.

15. These terms and conditions shall be governed by Philippine laws and any should be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Taguig City, Philippines.

 

IV. Notification of Changes to Terms and Conditions ​

The Bank reserves the right to amend, modify, or change the Terms and Conditions of the Program at any time. Any changes to the Terms and Conditions will be communicated to Cardholders through one or more of the following methods:

1. Email Notification: Cardholders will receive an email detailing the changes to the email address registered with the Bank.

2. SMS Notification: A text message will be sent to the Cardholder's registered mobile number.

3. Website Announcement: Updates will be posted on the official EastWest Banking Corporation website.

4. Statement of Account (SOA): Changes may be included in the monthly statement of account sent to Cardholders.

5. Physical Mail: A letter detailing the changes may be sent to the Cardholder's registered mailing address.
